I must say, I am not a political person, nor do I like politics. Like my parents, I don\’t like that kind of political crap at all. And every time we have an elementary school reunion after, say, 20 years, we always talk mostly about what we are enjoying, what we are doing, what our families are doing, and so on. Or we also reminisce about our elementary school days. Those years will never come back to us, and let me tell you, it was truly the best thing that ever happened to me to attend elementary school in our town.
Yes, she was a drag, but she could have gone to any other school. But I had a really perfect principal there, and I remember that principal really fondly. But for the last two years, when we have these reunions like this with the elementary school at the restaurant, people want to talk about politics. I\’m not really interested in that kind of thing. I don\’t enjoy it. So I try to change the subject, like environmental issues. If it\’s not political, I\’m fine with something else. But these days everyone is talking about politics. I don\’t know what\’s so interesting. Why can\’t we talk about animals, holidays, family, hobbies and work?
Or how school went in the end? No, simply, people want to talk about politics. Probably 80 percent of the people you get together with at a reunion want to talk politics. The other 1 percent just sit around and watch and do nothing. And because everyone wants to talk politics, there has been a lot of controversy at the reunion over the past two years. Classic arguments and other misunderstandings. I don\’t like that. I like to be able to relax and talk at reunions and not think about unnecessary things, just think about fun things and about my school days. Even when I was in elementary school, I remember my high school days as many times as I can.
